Any suggestions for an essay about an interesting person in the history of Afghanistan, Iraq, or Iran?

It has to be either a poet, philosopher or ruler.
For English Comp I, I have to write a 6-page essay about an interesting person in the history of Afghanistan, Iraq, or Iran. So I need an idea for someone on which a certain amount of information can be found, enough to fill 6 pages. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Do a search on Darius the Great. He'll fit "ruler", and you can find enough information to fill six libraries. You can write at least a page, in your own words, on how he constructed the Suez Canal about 25 centuries ago!
OR have a look for Cyrus the Great, and how he drew up the very first Human Rights Declaration (Cyrus's Cylinder for short) in the world, about 26 centuries ago!
Good Luck!!
